Hair Removal

Unwanted hair can be easily removed with a few different kinds of lasers.  Generally, a series of sessions is required for optimal removal, depending on the color of your skin and the color of the hair being treated. Hair grows in multiple stages and must be targeted in its active growth phase. In order to do so, it is important to repeat the treatments every four to six weeks.

Current lasers available at our office:

  • LightSheer Diode 810 nm Laser
  • GentelLase long pulse ND-YAG 1064nm Laser & long Pulse Alexandrite 755nm Laser

Question: Does laser hair removal hurt?

Answer:  Pain tolerance is patient dependent. We usually start without any numbing cream to assess pain tolerance. If needed, the second laser session can be completed with numbing cream.  After the procedure, the area will be warm, red and tender. This can be minimized with ibuprofen (Advil).

Question: How many sessions will I need?

Answer: It is case specific. It can take from 6 – 12 sessions.

Question: How will my skin look after the procedure?

Answer: It will look red and irritated. Occasionally, bruising and blistering may also occur.

Question: How do I care for the area that has been treated?

Answer: Apply Aquaphor® liberally until the skin is healed.
